Summary: Pera Beauty documents the resurrection and reintroduction of the 'Laterna' which is a mechanical barrel piano that was once a common sight in Istanbul . Even though the instrument was born in Europe, it had its golden age in Istanbul once between 1850 and 1950 becoming an indispensable element at the celebrations of the Greeks in the city. After half a century a music producer 'Nilufer' reaches the Greek piano maker and convinces him to build the first new instrument. The film also describes the events that lead to the departure of non Muslims from Istanbul by the beginning of the 20th century.
